Editorial Reviews Book Description A new and stunning book of photographs and essays from the photographer and writer of Hudson River Journey.

Created in 1892 as patchwork of private and public lands with neither an entrance gate nor an admission fee, Adirondack Park is not only celebrated as America's First Wilderness, it is also truly the first people's park-a vast region where nature and culture coexist. Adirondack High illuminates this relationship with its striking photography and lithe, thoughtful text.

With a masterful use of light and texture, Hardie Truesdale, a renowned nature photographer for more than 30 years, captures the sublimity of the Adirondacks in some of its most compelling vistas. Truesdale works as a painter would, carefully seeking out each scene with his 50 pounds of large-format camera equipment. Veteran travel writer Joanne Michaels adds further resonance to Truesdale's images with word. The result is a book that captures the true spirit of the Adirondacks. About the Author Hardie Truesdale's photography has been represented by galleries across the country. National Geographic Books, the Sierra Club, the Audubon Society, Mohonk Preserve, and The Nature Conservancy have all featured his work. He is the photographer of Countryman's Hudson River Journey (with Joanne Michaels). He lives in Gardiner, New York. Joanne Michaels is the author of six books, including Hudson River Journey (with Hardie Truesdale), The Hudson Valley and Catskill Mountains: An Explorer's Guide and Let's Take the Kids: Great Places to Go with Children in New York's Hudson Valley. She is also the host and producer of The Joanne Michaels Show, a regionally syndicated cable television program. The former editor-in-chief of Hudson Valley magazine, she lives in Woodstock, New York. Elizabeth Folwell is editor-at-large of Adirondack Magazine.
