Editorial Reviews Book Description For many, April Cornell floral prints are quite simply a way of life. Famous for bold prints in vivid colors, devoted fans avidly follow and collect each season's range of tablecloths, napkins, linens, and home accessories. From springtime yellows and summery shades, to even more intense winter hues, April Cornell's fresh, seasonal interpretations have kept customers coming back for more, in the process of catapulting a humble store into a multimillion dollar retail empire, with more than one hundred stores across North America. April Cornell At Home is the first book to showcase April's incredible range of home furnishsings - from textiles to teapots - throughout any environment, using April's own home in Vermont as an example. Here are all those exquisite floral-printed fabrics of April Cornell that go into her bestselling tablecloths, place mats, and quilts. Whether wishing to transform simply by changing a tablecloth or by outfitting an entire living space, the art of April Cornell At Home shows you how by using April's specialized palettes, one created for every season. Using these palettes, any of her patterns - whether they be a strip, a plaid, or a floral- can be combined effortlessly to give your home the look you want. Inspired by nature and the beauty and ancient craftsmanship of the East, company co-founder, April Cornell, distills a lifetime of looking, absorbing, mixing, and matching floral prints. The joyous array of design choices that confronts the reader is, in April's world, a visual delight rather than a dilemma. April thinks the "everyday" should be beautiful; so she advocates using even the little details of pot holders, kitchen towels, and table runners to subtly create elegance and brightness in a household. While most interior design books leaver readers in a no-man's-land when it comes to sourcing materials, or actually getting the look they want, the French/Victorian patterns and floral prints feature in April Cornell At Home are a well-integrated part of April Cornell's stores, other retailers, and April's website as well. In this book the novice decorator with little or no confidence can take comfort in the ease of April Cornell's tips while the seasoned decorator is equally invited to leap into a glorious array of inspired floral prints. Instructional yet inspirational, here is a gorgeous book in which April Cornell for the first time explains in detail her revered style. --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.
