Editorial Reviews Book Description Traditional Japanese homes, with superbly crafted fine wood, great workmanship and seasonal interior arrangements have an aesthetic and infinite simplicity, embracing the innermost sanctum of the spirit.

Japan Style introduces 20 special residences which were built in the past century. With more than 250 color photos, this book showcases the stunning beauty of the old homes, and reveal how they are cared for by their owners. Unlike Japanese inns and historical buildings, the houses featured in this book are private property and are not open to public viewing. Japan Style offers a rare glimpse into the intimate world of the everyday Japanese and fascinating insight into the traditional architecture of Japan. About the Author Kimie Tada graduated from Rikkyo University (Tokyo) with a degree in English Literature. She was editor-in-chief of Confort, a Japanese magazine that features traditional Japanese houses and interiors, as well as materials such as tatami, washi and tsuchi-kabe. She now runs I See All Inc., an editorial company which she set up in 2000.

Geeta Mehta is a partner in the architectural firm Braden and Mehta in Tokyo, and the Adjunct Professor of Art History and Urban Studies at the Temple University in Japan. She has designed interiors for multinational firms in Tokyo and Hawaii, and has participated in urban design projects in Vietnam and Indonesia. Prior to coming to Japan, she worked as an architect in US, UK and India, and has lectured on subjects of architecture for various organizations in Asia and Europe.
