About the Author Get Fuzzy creator Darby Conley is an illustrator and former elementary school teacher who was born in Concord, Mass., but grew up in Knoxville, Tenn. He attended Amherst College where he drew cartoons for the daily newspaper, the Amherst Student, and earned a fine arts degree in 1994. For the next two years, Darby taught second and fourth grades at an elementary school in Northampton, Mass. From 1996 to 1998 he served as art director for a children's museum in Massachusetts, where he currently lives.
