Nets & Doors: Shrimping in Southern Waters
Editorial Reviews Book Description From the Inside Flap Leigh's vision honors the human spirit and the dignity earned from experience. Atlanta Journal-Constitution Nets & Doors Jack Leigh In his two previous, widely acclaimed books, Oystering: A Way of Life and The Ogeechee: A River and Its People, photojournalist Jack Leigh portrayed with compassion and accuracy two of the great cultural traditions of the South. In his third and newest book, Nets & Doors: Shrimping in Southern Waqters, Leigh again sets out to capture the unique quality and faces of another Southern cultural enclave-- the shrimp fisherman who ply the waters along the Southeastern coastline. Three years in preparation, Nets & Doors presents a beautiful, poignant and memorable evocation and record of a way of life which is rapidly changing and may well be passing away. In so doing, this book goes beyond documentation and stands, as do Leigh's other books, as a work of art.
