About the Author Marla Baggetta's artistic inclinations were evident from an early age. A Buffalo, New York, native, she was educated at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, and received her BFA, with honors, in 1983. Marla was inspired by the beauty of rural landscapes when she moved to Oregon in 1993, and she began working with pastel. Marla has had a distinguished career working for such clients as Walt Disney, Trans America, Nissan, Houghton Mifflin, and Harcourt Brace, Boyds Mills Press. She has exhibited extensively in the Pacific Northwest and has received numerous awards for her landscape paintings, including Best of Show at Art in the Pearl 2001 and Arts of the Parks Top 100 in 1999. She has also been included in numerous regional and national pastel society exhibitions. Marla has taught at Art Center College of Design and Pacific Northwest College of Art, as well as in various workshop settings. Marla now splits her time between her landscape painting and her illustration career. She currently resides in West Linn, Oregon.
