Pioneer Pottery

Editorial Reviews Book Description Pioneer Pottery is a classic text in ceramic literature. Author Michael Cardew was one of the early and influential figures in British ceramics. In 1942, the Crown Agents asked him to go to Nigeria to set up a pottery training center. It was his experiences there as well as his previous time spent in the Gold Coast that formed the basis for this book that has influenced generations of potters around the world.

This completely redesigned new edition was planned in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of Cardew's birth. His son, Seth Cardew, himself a well-known potter, has written a new introduction to this volume. A new full-color section featuring photographs of previously unshown work is also included.

This book has brought great inspiration and guidance to potters for decades. This new and updated edition will educate and enlighten for decades to come.
