He combines a background in family-owned business with over 20 years teaching experience in retailing and marketing. He received his doctorate in marketing education from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia in 1984. In addition to being the author of numerous articles and reports, he is a contributing writer to textbooks on general merchandise retailing and entrepreneurship. He is the author of Retail Buying: From Staples to Fashion to Fads (Delmar, 1993).
